Dallas is a home to many famous people including athletes, rappers, politicians, and even actors and actresses. You’d be surprised that some of your favorite celebrities are from Texas. Here are 8 interesting personalities that took the road to fame with Dallas as the starting point.
1. Miles Fisher
Fisher has starred in several roles in films and in TV. A few of his projects include Superhero Movie (Tom Cruise, 2008), Gossip Girl (Klemmer, 2009), Final Destination 5 (Peter Friedkin, 2011), and 2 Broke Girls (Adam, 2016). He grew up in Dallas and attended St. Mark’s School of Texas, prior to moving to Washington, DC.
2. Josh Henderson
Starring and probably best known as John Ross Ewing III in the TV series Dallas (2012 to 2014), Henderson was also known to play a role in Desperate Housewives (Austin McCann, 2006 & 2007), Over There (Pfc. Bo Rider, 2005), and Step Up (Brett Dolan, 2006). He was born in Dallas although he grew up in Oklahoma.
3. Selena Gomez
Hailing from Grand Prairie, Texas, Gomez has been a rising star since her Barney breakthrough followed by her Disney Channel projects. She is better known for her musical career in the dance-pop genre. Her latest lead single titled It Ain’t Me was released on February 16, 2017. Gomez is also known to have her own clothing line and a self-titled fragrance.
4. Sharon Tate
Tate’s career ran short from 1966 in her film debut Eye of the Devil until she feel victim to the Manson family’s infamous murder spree on August 9, 1969. Valley of the Dolls earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination while her last completed film that was release posthumously, 12+1, earned her top billing later in 1969.
5. Usher
Usher Raymond IV’s career extends from singing, songwriting, dancing, and even acting. His self-titled debut album, Usher, was released in 1994. His 2001 album, 8701, earned him his first two Grammy Awards on 2002 and 2003 as Best Male R&B Vocal Performance.
6. Robin Wright
Born on 1966, Wright is known for roles in The Princes Bride (1987), State of Grace (1990), Toys (1992) and, Forrest Gump (as Jenny Curran, 1994). She was also inducted into the Texas Film Hall of Fame on March 2013. In 2014, Wright was part of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World.
7 & 8. Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson
Ka-chow! It’s Lightning McQueen! Er, it’s Owen Cunningham Wilson. O. Wilson is the voice of Lightning McQueen from the Pixar animated movie series Cars. He is also known to have assisted in the making of Midnight in Paris, the highest grossing film of Woody Allen. O. Wilson has also starred in Anaconda (1997), Armageddon (1998), Shanghai Noon (2000), and Zoolander (2001 & 2016).
As talent seems to run in the blood of the Wilsons, O. Wilson’s brother, Luke Wilson is also a known actor. Born later after his brother at 1971, L. Wilson has starred in several productions such as The X-Files (1998), Charlie’s Angels (2000 & 2003), Legally Blonde (2001 & 2003), Around the World in 80 Days (together with O. Wilson, 2004), and Dear Eleanor (2014).
